# LensCue > Free teleprompter online for content creators, YouTubers and businesses. A browser teleprompter that needs no account and no install: paste a script, pick a pace, and read. The script is stored in your own browser and never sent to a server — the site is static and there is nothing behind it to receive one. LensCue is a free online teleprompter at https://getlenscue.app. It is the whole product on the web: the tool is the home page, not a demo of a paid app. There is nothing to buy on the site. How it works: paste or type a script into the page, press Start, and the text scrolls at the pace you chose while the words you have already passed turn grey. Tap any word to jump the script to it. Pace is set in words per minute, on five levels: 1 = 90 wpm, 2 = 110 wpm, 3 = 130 wpm, 4 = 155 wpm, 5 = 180 wpm. The default is level 3. Those are the conventional ranges for spoken English — roughly 90 wpm for a formal, measured delivery, 130 conversational, and 180 about as fast as a listener can still follow. The runtime shown on the bar is derived from the same figure, so it is an honest estimate rather than a decoration. Other controls: three text sizes (32px, 46px, 64px); left, centre or right alignment; mirror (left-to-right, for beam-splitter glass) and flip (top-to-bottom), because teleprompter rigs differ in which one they need; bold, italic, underline and an amber highlight for cueing a script. Keyboard and remotes: space or page-down starts and pauses, page-up pauses, up and down arrows change the pace, left and right arrows nudge by a line, plus and minus change the text size, M toggles mirroring, Home rewinds, Escape returns to editing. Any Bluetooth presenter clicker works, because clickers send those same keys. Privacy: the site is static and has no server, no account, no analytics and no uploads. Scripts and settings are saved in the browser's own local storage, so they survive a refresh and never leave the machine; clearing site data erases them. The page never requests a camera or a microphone, and the server denies both by Permissions-Policy header rather than merely not using them. What it is not: it does not record video, and it does not follow your voice — it scrolls on a timer. Put it behind or beside your lens and record with whatever you already shoot on. A phone app that scrolls the script over the camera and records the take in one go is being built; this web tool is free and stays free either way. ## The tools - [Teleprompter](https://getlenscue.app/): The prompter itself, and the home page. Paste a script and read it. Free, no signup, nothing uploaded. - [Script timer](https://getlenscue.app/tools/script-timer): Paste a script and get its word count, how long it runs aloud at a given pace, and the pace needed to hit a target length. ## Script templates Starter scripts that open straight in the prompter, each one editable in the page. - [YouTube intro script](https://getlenscue.app/templates/youtube-intro): The first thirty seconds decide whether anyone watches the rest. This one states the promise, earns it, then gets out of the way. About 40 seconds at 130 wpm. - [Wedding speech script](https://getlenscue.app/templates/wedding-speech): Structure first, jokes second. Open with who you are, land one story, turn it into a toast — and keep it under five minutes. About 3 minutes at 130 wpm. - [Elevator pitch script](https://getlenscue.app/templates/elevator-pitch): Sixty seconds, four moves: who it is for, what hurts, what you built, why you. Rehearse it until the runtime stops surprising you. About 60 seconds at 130 wpm. ## Blog - [Any Bluetooth presenter clicker is a teleprompter remote](https://getlenscue.app/blog/bluetooth-clicker-teleprompter-remote/) (2026-10-31): A Bluetooth presentation clicker pairs as an ordinary keyboard and sends keystrokes, so any teleprompter that listens for the keyboard is already remote-controlled — no pairing step, no companion app, no purpose-built hardware. Put the clicker in Page Up / Page Down mode, which most send by default: page-down then starts and pauses the scroll, and page-up pauses it. In arrow-key mode the same buttons will change the speed or nudge the script instead, which is the single most common reason a clicker appears not to work. - [How many words is a 60-second script?](https://getlenscue.app/blog/how-many-words-is-a-60-second-script/) (2026-10-31): A 60-second script is about 130 words at a conversational pace — 100 words if you are speaking formally or to a room, and up to 170 for an energetic read to camera. The arithmetic is word count divided by words per minute. Expect a real take to run about 10% longer than that figure, because the count includes no pauses, no breaths and no room for the sentence you decide to say twice. - [Is it safe to paste a confidential script into an online teleprompter?](https://getlenscue.app/blog/is-it-safe-to-paste-a-script-into-an-online-teleprompter/) (2026-10-31): It depends entirely on the tool, and you can settle it yourself in about two minutes. Open the browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, type your script into the teleprompter, and watch: a tool that keeps your script local will make no requests at all while you type. One that sends it somewhere will show you the request and, in its payload, your words. Anything requiring an account is sending your script to a server by definition, because that is where the account lives. - [Teleprompter mirror mode: which flip does your rig need?](https://getlenscue.app/blog/teleprompter-mirror-mode-which-flip/) (2026-10-31): A beam-splitter teleprompter reflects your screen once before it reaches your eye, which reverses the text left to right, so the prompter must mirror horizontally to cancel it. Use horizontal mirror for the standard rig with the phone or tablet lying flat beneath the glass; use vertical flip only for rigs that invert top to bottom; use neither when reading directly off a screen beside the lens. If a rig needs both at once, turn the device physically upside down and set the prompter back to normal. - [Why a teleprompter scrolls faster than the words-per-minute it promises](https://getlenscue.app/blog/teleprompter-scrolls-faster-than-it-says/) (2026-10-31): A teleprompter that paces itself by dividing its whole scroll range by your script's speaking time will scroll faster than the words-per-minute it displays, because the scroll range includes blank lead-in and run-out padding that contains no words. The error is worst on short scripts: on a 900px-tall window, a dial set to 130 wpm moved an 80-word script at roughly 200 wpm, a 300-word script at 150, and a 1,000-word script at 136. The fix is to pace the text's own height rather than the scroll range. ## About - [About LensCue](https://getlenscue.app/about): What the tool is for, how to use it with a rig or a phone, and the FAQ below. - [Privacy](https://getlenscue.app/privacy): What is stored, where, and why there is no server to send it to. ## FAQ - Is it really free? — Yes — the whole teleprompter, with no signup, no trial and no watermark. There is nothing to buy on this site. - Does my script get uploaded anywhere? — No. The page is static and there is no server to send it to. Your script and settings are saved in your own browser's local storage, which means they survive a refresh and never leave your machine. Clearing site data erases them. - Does it use my camera or record video? — No. It never asks for your camera or your microphone — it is a script on a screen and nothing else. Put it behind or beside your lens and record with whatever you already shoot on. - What speed should I use? — Conversational speech is around 130 words per minute; a measured, formal delivery is nearer 100, and an energetic read can pass 160. Start at 130, then nudge it with the arrow keys while you read — the scroll follows immediately. - Does it work with a teleprompter rig? — Yes. Turn on mirroring for beam-splitter glass. Both horizontal and vertical flips are there, because rigs differ in which one they need. - Can I use a remote control? — Any Bluetooth presenter clicker that sends page-up, page-down, space or the arrow keys will drive it, because those are the same keys the prompter listens for. - Does it work offline? — Once the page has loaded, the prompter itself needs no network. It is not installable as an offline app yet. - Is there a phone app? — Not yet. One is being built — the same prompter, designed for a phone at eye level, where it can scroll the script over the camera and record the take in one go. This tool is free and stays free either way. ## Optional - [Buy me a coffee](https://buymeacoffee.com/lenscue): The only ask on the site. LensCue is free and has nothing to sell.
